The Rainbow Bridge Story

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

It is faith that makes us believe in this powerful story and hope that one day we actually will be able to be together with all our long lost beloved pets in heaven. ~dmbp

They say memories are golden well, maybe that is true
I never wanted memories I only wanted you
A million times I needed you a million times I cried
If love alone could have saved you, you would never of died
In life I loved you dearly in death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place no one could ever fill
If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane
I'd walk the path to Heaven and bring you back again
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same
But as GOD calls us one by one the chain will link again.

LUCKY 3-2-96 to 12-8-96

Lucky was the sweetest dog I ever had the pleasure of calling mine. We found her one cold and blustery day shivering and alone. We tried for hours searching for her home but to no avail. We were so Lucky we found her and she too was Lucky to be found on that freezing day. We brought her home and she changed our family's lives forever. Lucky has since made the journey to Rainbow Bridge. Gone, never to be forgotten, she will stay in our hearts forever!! Rest In Peace Dear Lucky!!

SPEEDY 10-10-96 to 11-30-01

You came a small bundle of fur. Lost and alone. We shared Love and Friendship You brought Joy and Happiness. Unconditional Love and Respect you gave. You left softly and silently in the peace of sleep You taught me to love and to see the joy of each day That is your legacy. Sleep on in peace.. We love and miss you Sweet Speedy.

I used to romp and play and bark at the neighbors. I used to live to torture my Nikki... Anyone who knew me knew I LOVED spiders!! Next to tree bark and bugs they were my favorite treat!!

Speedy crossed Rainbow Bridge and while I'm sad at least she is no longer in pain. Speedy gave us 5 whole years of joy. The very first day we brought her home she climbed up on to my husband head to warm herself while she looked out the back window and everyday since she entertained us with her silly antics and made our little piece of the world brighter by her presence. As you can see from her *real* picture Speedy was born with her angel wings so I'm thankful God let us borrow her for a little bit.

I oughta be in pictures...

Heaven's Doggie Door

My best friend closed his eyes last night, As his head lay in my hand.
The doctors said he was in pain, And it was hard for him to stand.

The thoughts that scurried through my head, As I cradled him in my arms,
Were of his younger puppy years, And Oh... his many charms.

Today there was no gentle nudge, With an intense "I love you" gaze.
Only a heart that's filled with tears, Remembering our joy-filled days.

But an Angel just appeared to me, And said, "You should cry no more,
God also loves our canine friends, He's installed a doggy door!"

St. Basil's Prayer for Animals

"The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. God, enlarge within us the sense of fellowship with all living things, our little brothers, to whom Thou hast given this earth as their home in common with us.

May we realize that they live not for us alone, but for themselves and for Thee, and that they love the sweetness of life even as we and that they serve Thee better in their place, than we in ours".  Amen

Time To Go
The time has come I think you know the Lord is calling so I must go
I love you so much; I wish it wasn't so I wish I could stay; I don't want to go

You're the best family a dog ever had so kind and gentle, never mean or mad
I'll never forget the day that we met I was so lucky to become your pet

You opened your door and showed me your heart
I'll never forget you; we'll never part
You loved me and cared for me over the years
you taught me everything and took away my fears

The Lord is calling now I must go but before I go I want you to know
I know it hurts to lose a friend but I'll be with you even at the end.

Haven Of The Heart

Our Father, who art in heaven hear this little prayer
and reach across the miles today that stretch from here to there
So we may feel much closer to those we are fondest of
And they may know we think of them with sympathy and with love
And help all people everywhere who must often dwell apart
To know that they are together in the haven of the heart
