I'll always remember Adam and his beautiful smile even though his star burned only a short time. Adam was such a cute kid with a promising career ahead of him and it was so sad the day he died knowing that
some of the Petty hopes and dreams died in that instant. One can only look at this picture and wonder what could have been.

Adam's life was cut short in an accident at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on May 12, 2000. He crashed into the turn 3 wall during practice ending a promising career.

RIP Adam.

** Our Friend Whose Gone Away

We really didn't have him long - Our friend whose gone away.
And if things could be different I confess I'd have him stay
with us and bless us with his friendship and his smile,
He grew so very dear to us in such a little while.

Now we all are lonesome - Each heart has an empty space-
That wants to feel his hand again and see his smiling face -
And hear him speak so gently, and just be with us each day.
We miss him and we're grieving for - Our Friend whose gone away.

But I am very thankful -There is peace within my soul -
For I know he's with Jesus - I know He has made him whole.
And I know too I'll see him when He calls me from this place,
And when I go to live with Him - I know I'll see his face.

So as I write these words and I remember our Dear Friend.
I am thankful that He loaned him to us at the very end.
How precious are His thoughts toward us -
How wondrous are His ways -
He sent us such a lovely soul to bless and fill our days.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find yours eyes, all filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today.
While thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you.
And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand.
That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand.
And said my place was ready, in heaven far above.
And that I'd have to leave behind, all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye.
For all my life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for, so much yet to do.
It seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad.
I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while.

I'd say goodbye and kiss you, and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized, that this could never be.
For emptiness and memories, would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow.
I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne.
He said, "This is eternity, and all I've promised you."
Today for life on earth is past, but here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last.
And since each day's the same way, there's no longing for the past.
But you have been so faithful, so trusting and so true.
Thought there were times you did some things, you knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven, and now at last you're free.
So won't you take my hand, and share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart.
For every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart.

Adam was doing what he loved and loved what he did.
He was loved and respected by his fans and his peers
we can only hope that the pain of this tragic day can
be eased by the memory of his never ending smile and
love for his family and this sport. I believe that if
there's a race track in HEAVEN Adam is strapping himself
in and getting a few pointers from his Great-Grandfather
getting ready to start his engine. This isn't the end
but the beginning of a whole new season.
45 go for the checkered flag.

The Stick-Together Families

The stick-together families are happier by far
Than the brothers and the sisters who take separate highways are.
The gladdest people living are the wholesome folks who make
A circle at the fireside that no power can break.
And the finest of conventions ever held beneath the sun
Are the little family gatherings when the busy day is done.

There are rich folk, there are poor folk, who imagine they are wise,
And they're very quick to shatter all the little family ties.
Each goes searching after pleasure in his own selected way,
Each with strangers likes to wander, and with strangers likes to play.
But it's bitterness they harvest, and it's empty joy they find,
For the children that are wisest are the stick-together kind.

There are some who seem to fancy that for gladness they must roam,
That for smiles that are the brightest they must wander far from home.
That the strange friend is the true friend, and they travel far astray
they waste their lives in striving for a joy that's far away,
But the gladdest sort of people, when the busy day is done,
Are the brothers and the sisters who together share their fun.

It's the stick-together family that wins the joys of earth,
That hears the sweetest music and that finds the finest mirth;
It's the old home roof that shelters all the charm that life can give;
There you find the gladdest play-ground, there the happiest spot to live.
And, O weary, wandering brother, if contentment you would win,
Come you back unto the fireside and be comrade with your kin.

"I Have a Place in Heaven"

Please don't sing sad songs for me,
forget your grief and fears,
For I am in a perfect place, away from pain and tears
I'm far away from hunger And hurt and want and pride,
I have a place in Heaven with the Master at my side

My life on earth was very good, as earthly lives can go,
But Paradise is so much more than anyone can know.
My heart is filled with happiness and sweet rejoicing, too.
To walk with God is perfect peace, a joy forever new.

Those to whom we say farewell, are welcomed by others.
