Do it yourself wedding invitations are a great way to put a personal stamp on your wedding and save money at the same time.

With the rising cost of weddings rising every year, do it yourself wedding invitations can save you a significant amount that you can use for the actual ceremony or reception, where it will be much more memorable. Of course, you want your wedding invitations to be lovely and professional looking and with today's many on-line sources of paper, accessories, and trimmings, you can make your own invites that look wonderful.

The most important element to professional looking results when you are making your own invitations is not skimping on the materials. In fact, you can find wonderful suppliers on the Internet that have the card stock, trims, and inks that you will need to create gorgeous invitations at home that will be uniquely yours.

Card stock is the foundation for the entire wedding invitation. Be sure you purchase a high quality card stock that is not flimsy. You can find wonderful card stocks that are pre-creased in a variety of folds, including gate folds, traditional folds and tri folds, so that you can create a style that reflects the level of formality of your wedding.

Colors will range from the more traditional whites and creams to rich jewel tones and glimmering metallics. You can either print your invitations directly on the card stock or use these as the base and overlay them with vellum or parchment paper that is printed with your words, using the colored card stock as the background.

Vellum or parchment is thinner than card stock, but should still be substantial enough that it will not tear easily and will stand up to a run through your printer. There are endless varieties of these papers. Some are hand made papers, and feature tiny bits of flower petals or leaves or confetti for a romantic look and feel, while others feature pale pastel tints and sheer look so that they can be used as an overlay.

Ribbon trim is one of the most popular embellishments used on do it yourself wedding invitations. The endless varieties available will allow you to personalize your invitations to match your wedding theme by threading a bit of ribbon through the top, bottom, or side of each invitation and tying in a simple knot or an intricate bow. Grosgrain ribbon or raffia are casual, while silks and satins are more luxurious. Are your bridesmaids wearing silver gowns with the groomsmen in basic black? If so, then consider trimming your invitations in black ribbon edged in silver.

Rubber stamps and seals make it easy to add decorative touches to your do it yourself wedding invitations. Shop on-line or visit a scrap booking store, where you will find elaborate stamps featuring scroll work, flowers, bells, and other motifs appropriate for weddings. You might want to choose the initials for you and your fiance and stamp and interlocking monogram at the top of your invitations in colored ink or an unusual pattern to use as a border around the edges of your invitations. You can repeat the same pattern on your reply cards and envelopes for a truly customized look.

Embossers and paper punches can also be bought at scrap booking and craft supply stores. These small, hand held devices either punch decorative patterns through paper or create a raised, embossed pattern in the paper. Both are a lovely way to give your invitations a lovely hand made look and feel. Try punching a decorative heart in one corner of a sheer vellum sheet to allow the darker card stock underneath show through for a nice accent. You can even emboss your envelopes.

Printer ink will need to be ordered in plentiful amounts, because today's computer printers can print in almost any color imaginable, but it will make short work of your ink cartridges, particularly if you are making quite a few. You can either order several spare cartridges in the colors you will need or you can take your invitations to a copier store and ask them to do the printing for you, although you will be paying more there and may be limited on the colors and fonts you can use.

Wedding crafts, floral, invitations, etc?

First of all, thank you for looking! I would like to hear your ideas. My wedding is a fair time away, but I'm doing some preliminary planning ahead of time while I still have time on my hands First of all, what did you do of your own? Did you make your own invitations? Use wood veneer? Cardstock and a paper punch? Did you do your own favors and programs? Centerpieces? Cake? Did you do your own bouquets and boutonnieres? Real or silk flowers? How many people did you find most helpful in planning this? How many days ahead of time did you prep? Did you find that what you did was worth your time? I hear that brides-to-be begin to feel the crunch...I've read so many books about crafts, including wedding crafts, but I'd like to hear from you. Working with a real budget, real family members on a realistic schedule. Different techniques? Did you have fun?

In case it's helpful, I am hoping it will be wedding and reception on the smaller side.

I did my own small wedding, and helped a friend do her bigger wedding. Before jumping into it, see what you can find ready made, for low cost. Don't set out making 100 favors when you can go to OrientalTrading.com and get 100 favors for $50. What I'm saying is, make sure that doing it yourself really IS going to save money. Same with invitations...depending on how you make them, they could get very expensive. Flowers are tricky cuz you dont want to get them too soon, so you're kinda cramming that in last minute, even the day before. Do you want that stress? My friend (and her bridesmaids) made their bouquets and all the corsages/boutonnieres the day before. She got a local florist to make her bridal bouquet though, since that is the most important. All the flowers looked pretty good, but basic, and hers was full, gorgeous, and amazing. So it worked out really well. Her mom made the cake, and it turned out awful, so if someone 'offers' to make it, make sure they have skill! It's cheaper to rent linens than buy all the fabric you need...unless you find fabric on super sale and have a little sewing skill. Also see what you can borrow. I was able to borrow linens from my church. Basic white, but hey they were free!

So it depends on a lot of factors. What is your overall theme of the day? Another word of advice...start with a plan and try to stick to it. if you're theme is beach, don't go out and buy things just because they have a seashell on them....it gets tacky. Don't be so literal when it comes to 'themes' of that nature. You also come away with tons of mismatched clearance stuff. So just because its on sale doesn't mean you should use it.

In this article we are going to look at giant scale RC airplanes. These large scale RC airplanes are more often than not war birds, both fighter and bomber variants, believe me seeing something like a B17 flying around is truly impressive. These giant scale RC airplanes are generally categorized by their weight. This is because when an RC aircraft reaches a certain weight, in this case over 44lb (20kg) models are subject to an inspection by the Large Model Association on behalf of the CAA in the UK and the IMAA in the US.

This series of inspections are designed to ensure the safety of the public, by imposing certain standards in the construction of the airframe and integrity of its control systems including double redundant elevator control, twin batteries with automatic switching etc. These airplanes usually have wingspans of greater than 85 inches and look superb in flight.

These large scale airplanes are normally powered by petrol engines up to and sometimes beyond 100cc. Many users are now exclusively using 2.4GHz Radio control equipment; all servos must be of the metal gear type and things like control clevis and horns need to be beefed up. This is where weight starts to play its role as these airplanes need stronger heavier kit for durability, they also need stronger heavier and sprung Oleos to absorb landing shocks, and so weight can increase exponentially. These large scale RC airplanes are not particularly difficult to fly and sometimes they can be easier due to their increased stability, this is especially true in gusty weather.

Many might say that this is an awful lot of hassle when if you keep the weight below 44lb you are relatively free of rules and regulation, but I urge you to go to a meeting of these large war birds you may just become hooked.

Hifonics makes good quality products, they are not the best but are usually nice for the price. Those woofer will work and can sound good but it depends on what they cost. If you can find some Kickers for the same price I would get them instead.

I think if the USA went into receivership like a debt-ridden, deadbeat corporation, the world would be more peaceful today.

The Chinese, Japanese and Arabs would seize most of the homes and corporations. The armed forces would become a large "Blackwater" type firm to keep peace around the world and the banks would be under European control. The USA would be a country in name only.

You could still take pride in your beer, your sports teams and token appointments to a rubber-stamping Capitol Hill, but the USA would no longer be a rabid junkie of a country looking for its next military or financial fix. What do you think?

Have you ever stamped an image and been displeased with the result? There may be times when using your clear stamps that you don't want a perfect image, but usually it is a crisp clear stamped image you desire. Here are a few tips for achieving crisp, clear, printer perfect stamping images.

The Nature of Paper - Smooth paper will give you crisper, clearer lines and images. You can test this by using different textures of paper. Try clear stamping on a paper bag, textured paper, and smooth cardstock. Compare the clear stamp image results.

Think when you Ink - Inking the clear stamp is simply a matter of daubing the clear stamp lightly on the ink pad. Do this several times to achieve a uniform layer of ink on the surface of the stamp. You do not want to get ink on the shoulder of the image or on the stamping block itself, doing so will run the risk of creating a blush of color in an undesired spot.

Lighten the Load - Clear stamps require even pressure over the surface of the stamp. Pressing too hard with the clear stamp and block can create a hazy impression. As you stamp watch for the ink transfer through the clear stamping block. This is a good judge of how much force to apply to your stamp.

If you have over inked your stamp, getting ink on the shoulder, floor or clear stamping block, you may find the extra ink showing up in undesired places. Good quality clear stamps are trimmed close to the image design to help prevent excess ink from accumulating in such places. Steady and True - After deciding where you want your clear stamping image, be sure that you bring the clear stamp straight down on the area, stamp, and then straight up. Any wavering to the side will distort your image.

Condition Admission - Each time I read stamping material that recommends conditioning your new stamps with sandpaper or even an eraser, I get a little nervous. Sandpaper is abrasive and by its very nature is designed to remove raised edges - I can't imagine applying it to a new clear stamp. The best conditioning advice I have seen for clear stamps simply recommends a quick wash. If you are worried about staining, you might try using a light colored ink the first time you use the stamp. This won't guarantee against staining but will help.

On the Surface - Consider your stamping surface to be one of your most important tools in creating a clear crisp image. Clear stamps do not have the spring that a wood mounted rubber stamp has. It is very simple to create this spring. Simply stamp on a softer surface such as a small stack of paper or a magazine. My preference is to simply stamp on a sheet of craft foam. Achieving crisp clean images from clear stamps is an effortless endeavor as you consider the nature of the paper, ink, pressure, motion, and stamping surface you use.

how do I use letterpress printers blocks? Do I need an actual letterpress machine?

Or can I use them like I use rubber stamps?

A good way of using them is if you can find a cheap secondhand proofing press which runs a heavy roller over the block.

There were small printing presses made by Adana which can occasionally be found secondhand but you would also need formes, locks, printers ink and a good selection of type.
