La Pavoni Professional Espresso Machine?

I just purchased a La Pavoni Professional espresso machine and got it in today. I followed the instructions on cleaning the product before hand. As I was in the process of turning on the machine, the safety valve kept releasing steam and was steaming for 20 min. straight. My temperature gauge did not move at all. I was just wondering if this is something normal and can be fixed or just a manufacturing defect in the product that needs to be sent back.

That question can easily be answered by reading the owner's manual, or by searching the manufacturers website, or possibly even by contacting the manufacturer toll free number.
