Girl Scrapbook Page

A scrapbook layout idea for 17 photos? Yep, count 'em! I think it's pretty effective. Working with grids lets you get loads of photographs on one layout, and this is a little more unusual.

It's just as well I counted for I thought there were 18 photos, lol! Well, two grids of nine is nine plus nine which equals 18, doesn't it? But in fact the middle photo of the underneath grid is hidden, hence 17 photos. That's the bit I forgot, lol!

Read on for all the yummy details behind the photographs.

Can you work with chocolate and not lick your fingers? No, neither could we! Maybe this should be called 'Finger Licking Good' for there sure were plenty of well-licked fingers by the end of the evening, lol!

But then it was Belgian chocolate which is sooo yummy! And they were not for gifts but to be shared with my DH, so licking fingers was fine. Actually we did wash our hands frequently... but only after we'd licked them clean first, of course, lol!

My friend invited me to join her group on a visit to The Cocoa Bean Factory which is in Twynholm, in south west Scotland. Can you tell we had a great time? Chocolate is not just for kids - silly grin!

I only managed to capture nine ladies licking the chocolate off their fingers or scooping it out of the little cups with a tiny spoon. Everyone did it, including me... but then I was behind the camera and not in front of it, hee hee. I certainly had the cleanest hands because I kept running to wash them before I could take another photograph - after they'd been licked, of course! It was a messy job, but oh so tasty, lol! And of course, I missed many photo opportunities while my fingers were covered in chocolate or being washed. Well, they were hand-made truffles, you're bound to get covered in chocolate.

We made 14 lovely little truffles filled with such delights as raspberry fondant, mint, ganache, ginger, tiramisu, gin fizz, violet, and I've forgotten all the others. There was a stack of icing bags full of the various flavors in the middle of the table. We then smothered them in chocolate, and drizzled more chocolate over them. Mmm!

One girl made a cute little dinosaur (about 4 inches high; the bottom left photo in the layout) and a huge chocolate bar with white, milk and dark chocolate swirls. There was a third thing, but I forget what it was. I took so many photos that if I keep going back to look for something I'll never get this finished!

I was surprised how rich the chocolate was, so, despite all my joking here, most of my extra chocolate came home with me, in the little cups we used, for my husband to enjoy. The truffles lasted all of two days. Well chocolate and coffee go soooo well together. And it was the weekend. Did I say the chocolate was sooooo good?

We finished the evening with coffee, cake and chatter in the cafe. Oh, and of course, the shop was open to buy as much chocolate made by the professionals as you want. There were even some calorie-free samples!

We had a great time and thoroughly recommend it. Ladies, thank you for allowing me to join you.

What's a good name for a scrapbook/magazine and shoe brand?

So i'm doing a few personal projects and i am creating a scrapbook that is filled with eco-friendly renovations that could be made to a house (for example tankless water heater, renewable materials, low-VOC paint, etc.). I am going to have a cover page introducing the scrapbook, and i was trying to think of a cool title for it, but obviously with no luck, Anyways any ideas would be helpful, but please involve eco-friendly refferences. Also any cool ideas for a shoe brand would be greatly appreciated as well. The girl who is designing them has the initials VH, so any ideas for that too would be great!

Ideas for a baby scrapbook?

I have some great quotes, but my problem is finding themes for pages. in the beginning of the book i will have birth pics, then as he grows of course. but i want like pages with themes, like a teething page with quotes about teething, then his first boo boo, then his first christmas, etc. what are some good themes ???

Sided Scrapbook Paper

Are you or someone you know an avid reader?  Try making a personalized bookmarker so you will never lose your place. You can make several of these in no time at all using cardboard and antiqued looking wrapping paper.  What a quick way to create art with decorative scrap paper and your own personalized 3-D foam letter, as you will find out by reading below.

Begin by selecting a scrap piece of wrapping paper that resembles time gone by.  If you do not have any left over wrapping paper, you can find some very inexpensive paper at your local craft store.  For this project an antiqued looking sports theme was used in a flat finish (tan, brown, black and olive).   Using scissors, cut the wrapping paper in to two 8 in.H x 2 in.W strips.  Next, cut one piece of thin scrap cardboard in to an 8 in.H x 2 in.W piece to match in size the two strips of paper you have already cut and set aside.  Spray artist adhesive to one side of the cardboard and apply one of the wrapped paper strips to it, smooth out any wrinkles and allow time to dry, approx. 5 minutes.  Next, flip the quickly to be finished custom book marker over and repeat the same process on the other side.  Now, to add the personalizing touch to your project, add a 3d foam letter sticker for scrapbooking to the front side of your marker.  For this project we used a cream colored S letter, 1.5 in. x 1.5 in..

That is all there is to it.  A nice simple scrapbooking craft, and a special and personalized custom book marker.  A great classroom craft for teachers, or just the rest of us everyday home crafters.    

Supplies:

• Decorative scrap wrapping paper (Flat finish)
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Artist Spray Adhesive
• 3D Foam letter sticker for scrapbooking (One letter, size 1.5 in. x 1.5 in.)

Scrapbook help - expandable albums? Card stock? Pens?

This is my first scrapbook album. I thought it would be a good way to save pictures from a trip I took. I estimated it will be 80-90 pages. So here are some questions, although additional advice is appreciated.

1) Expandable albums (12x12) - I went to Michaels, AC Moore and Target, none of them say exactly how many pages it can hold maximum. Can most expandable albums hold 80-90 pages? What about the books with the front & back covers that are connected by an adjustable "spine"?

2) Am I supposed to use the paper inserts in each page, or should I buy card stock? And can I use both sides of the card stock?

3) What permanent pens do you recommend - waterproof, non-bleeding? I saw some Zig pens that looked nice.

4) What do I use to stick the pictures to the paper? Is a regular glue stick going to work?

Unfortunately scrapbook companies are not as clear as they need to be with their products. I have this prioneer scrapbook that I have put about 50 refills in it (100 pages althoghter). http://www.penncamera.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=5123&DEPARTMENT_ID=250 Its so heavy I can hardly carry it! So if you go with that brand you should be ok (I also know they make a 100 page scrapbook). However, know that you will have to make use of extenders to make it this large.

The white paper inserts are to give your pages strenght, esp. if you build them on plain paper. You can make the pages on the paper inserts if you want though, and you can use both sides.

Zig is a great brand of pen to use. Anything acid free will work.

Halloween Scrapbook Stickers

Get your children involved with this project too. Remember that there is no need to get things absolutely perfect. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Scrapbook Invitations - Try creating a "scrapbook" invitation with your child's pictures! These are memorable cards that can be kept long after the party is over. First, you will search for some designs of various clipart that will relate to your parties theme and other crafted materials found in any hobby store. Using your child's pictures as the focal point, add lots of decorations around it and fun cut-out letter for the party's details. Be as creative as you want with this project! It is important to plan ahead, this type of project can be time consuming.

Treasure Map Invitations - Soak plain white paper in strong tea and let dry in the sun. This will give it a weathered and wrinkled look. Use a brown marker to write the details and try writing it in elegant script. You can even purchase alphabet stencils that will match to make it easier. Fold and use a red candle to drip wax to hold together. Regular rubber stamps found at any hobby store will make a cool emblem; apply while the wax is still hot to create this. Write the guest's name on the front of the folded invitation and send.

Puzzle Invitations - Buy a handful of cheap mini puzzles from the dollar store and before taking them apart, paint over the picture with a plain color that matches your party theme. Once the paint is dry, write the party details on the puzzle and any other pictures or décor you would like. Be sure to break it up and drop it into an envelope to send to your guests.

Kaleidoscope Invitations - You will need to save your toilet paper rolls for this idea. Decorate them with paint, glitter, markers, colorful paper, whatever you like. Once the tubes are colored and dry, you will need to take a piece of white or light colored tissue paper and cut it into a circle slightly larger than your tube end. Write the party details in the center and glue the circle over one end. Write instructions to the guests to hold the tube up to the light and look through it for a special surprise.

Candy Bar Invitations - Say "Happy Birthday" with chocolate. You can order a customized candy bar wrapper complete with text and images for that sweet-tooth birthday boy or girl or make up your own chocolate bar wrapper on your computer. You can include a photo of the birthday child, party details and anything else you wish. Take the outer wrapper off a regular chocolate bar and rewrap it with your own, leaving the metallic paper in place. A little glue will keep your unique wrapper in place. Kids and adults love these invitations, but who wouldn't?

You can also design invitations that fit the theme of your party. For example, movie or Hollywood parties send "ticket stubs" with the party details on front. Or a toy car could deliver the message with a sticker containing party details stuck underneath. The are still hundreds of ideas, you just have to use your imagination and be a little creative.

What are a few cute ideas to do?

My boyfriend plays tennis, so he's always going away to tournaments. Since before we started dating, I've written him good luck notes, and he always takes them with him while he's playing, then puts them on his wall when he's not. I want to do something more creative than this every other week, but I'm running out of ideas. There was one point where he wanted to quit because it was getting the best of him, so I wrote on a tennis ball, "Don't give up; accept it as a challenge." And he loved it. He carried it with him all day before he left, which was funny.
I went to the craft store yesterday and bought some scrapbook pages and some tennis sticker stuff to make a big good luck note, but he can't really take it with him. this week, since it's halloween, i made him a cute little gift bag because he's going to be driving instead of celebrating. and it's also our 2 months.
Also, I need ideas for a good Christmas present for an 18-year-old guy.
